Situated in Maputaland, the north-eastern region of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, adjoining the Mozambique border, Tembe is home to the province's biggest African Elephant herd and its only indigenous Elephants.
Tembe's African Elephants used to be South Africa's last remaining free-ranging herd, at one time moving seasonally between Mozambique and Maputaland. In recent years they have sought refuge in the dense sand forests of Tembe to escape the depredations of border conflicts and landmines, and their continuous harassment by ivory poachers.
Tembe Elephant Lodge is a luxurious safari lodge, which consists of luxury en-suite tented accommodation. A thatch-sheltered splash pool and open barbeque complete the picture. Enjoy tasty meals under the stars and the dancing flames of the campfire in the African bush.
All amenities are catered for and tariffs are fully inclusive of accommodation, three delicious meals, teas, coffee and light refreshments. Daytime and evening 4x4 game drives are conducted by an experienced guide and are included at no extra cost to overnight guests. Half and full day game drives are also available for day-trippers. Modern conference facilities are available for meetings and team building.
