Phinda Forest Lodge is located within the 18 000-hectares (44 478-acres) of Phinda Private Game Reserve in South Africa. Phinda neighbours the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park (World Heritage Site) to the east and is only 30 kilometers (19 miles) due west of the sparkling white sand beaches of the Indian Ocean.

There are daily scheduled flights by SA Express from Johannesburg International Airport to Richards Bay Airport.

Transfers from Richards Bay Airport to Phinda Private Game Reserve in South Africa are available by road (approximately 2 hours) or by light aircraft (approximately 30 minutes). Transfers are available at additional cost and subject to availability of aircraft and weather conditions.

Transfer by road from Durban International Airport to Phinda Private Game Reserve in South Africa, in a minibus (3 hours) and a one-hour air transfer is also available. Phinda Private Game Reserve, South Africa is accessible by road with a two-wheel drive vehicle. Driving time from Johannesburg is 6 hours and from Durban is 3 hours, on excellent roads.

>Phinda has a subtropical climate with hot, humid, wet summers (September to April) and warm to cool, dry winters (May to August). Rainfall averages about 1 000mm/39” per annum at Phinda Private Game Reserve in South Africa.

Much of the rainfall comes in the form of short, intense afternoon thunderstorms. Rain can be expected 12 months of the year. Daytime temperatures in summer may rise above 35°C / 95°F. Nights in winter rarely drop below 10°C / 50°F.
